Stars of Xitsonga Literature Competition - Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility

The competition is open to unpublished authors who have never had their work commercially published. Participants must be 18 years or older. Employees of Nhlalala ya Vulombe Publishers and their immediate family members are not eligible.

2. Submission Requirements

All submissions must be original, unpublished works written in Xitsonga. Each story must be between 700-1000 words. Participants may submit up to 10 different stories. Submissions must be in electronic format (.doc, .docx, .pdf, or .txt).

3. Originality

By entering the competition, you confirm that your submission is entirely your own original work, does not infringe any copyright, and has not been published elsewhere in any form.

4. Rights

Authors retain copyright of their work. By entering, you grant Nhlalala ya Vulombe Publishers the right to publish your submission in the "Stars of Xitsonga Literature" ebook collection if selected. No entry fees are required, and no payment will be made for publication in the collection.

5. Judging and Prizes

Entries will be judged based on originality, creativity, writing quality, and adherence to Xitsonga language standards. The judges' decision is final. Winners will be notified by email and announced on our website.

6. Privacy

Your personal information will be used solely for the purpose of administering this competition and will not be shared with third parties without your consent.

7. Deadline

All submissions must be received by 23:59 (South African Time) on 25 February 2026. Late submissions will not be considered.
